Who is behind the lens

My names Hellen, since being young I've always had dogs in my life and absolutely love them, looking back at old photos I wish we had more beautiful clearer photos of them to look back at. For the past 10 years I have ran my own Professional Dog Walking business, and that is what lead me to being a on location photographer. I've always loved photography since being in my teens, taking photos of anything and everything and then once I started taking daily photos of my dog clients people would ask me if I was professional (and that was just using my phone) so that led me to pick up my camera again and here we are.

When I am not doing shoots for clients, I take my boy Cooper out on epic adventures, doing location scouts for future shoots and I get my practice in with him too, he is my life and part of the reason I started doing this, as I have created so many forever memories for us, I want to do that for other people. I am profoundly deaf, but this does not stop me from creating amazing images for you. I am immensely proud of the images I capture and the end creations speak for themselves. I am also a registered member of The Guild of Photographers

PUPPY PACKAGE - £495

This package consists of 3 separate shoots.

Their first walk or roundabout, 6 months and then their 1st birthday.

First shoot will be 30/45 mins long due to their age, the remaining 2 will be 1-2 hours.

Included in the price you get 2 free 8x6 matted prints and corresponding digital for free per shoot and £150 product credit in total not per shoot, towards further images.

Deposit of £50 is due at time of booking, the balance needs to be paid in full a week before the shoot.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does it work

On booking i will have an email/text consultation with you about you, your dog and discuss possible locations, what kind of images you are looking for and what kind of artwork you are interested in whether that be a photo album, framed images, folio box or something completely different, i have lots of different items available. With your photoshoot you will get credit of £100 towards artwork/images. Then the photoshoot will take place, we will then arrange a time and date a few weeks later for me to either come to your home or somewhere suitable for the ordering session and we will go through the photos together, I will show you a slideshow of your images for you to choose from, after this meeting i will go away and spend time editing your chosen images to a high standard then order your chosen items, then a few weeks later I will hand deliver where possible your order.

Do you travel?

Yes, I love exploring new locations with my dog especially when photography is involved. I will travel up to 50 miles of M24 area with no extra cost. Any further afield may incur an extra cost to cover fuel.

Do you retouch photos

Yes I edit my photos using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop to make them sparkle in my own style and remove distractions, but if you have anything particular in mind please let me know. I hope to have edited all your chosen images within 4 weeks, editing can be a lengthy job but I try to work to a timescale.

How do I prepare for a session

You might have a few questions such as do I need to bring anything, what shall I wear etc. We will chat about all this during initial consultation.

How many photos will i see

After the shoot I will decide on the best images to present to you, these will have small adjustments to them and may not be fully edited. I will take a lot of photos during our sessions but you will see at least 20 photos up to a possible 30. There will be a wide variety from the shoot not just different angles of the same shot.

Do I have to be in any of the photos

No not at all if you don’t want to be. I can take photos of just your dog. Or your dog sat by your feet, or in your arms with you facing away. Whatever you feel comfortable with.

The Weather

Most of my shoots are outdoors, they will only go ahead if it is safe to do so. A little bit of rain is not a problem. Most shoots will take place early morning, late afternoon or early evening where possible as this gives the best light.

My dog is not well behaved and has to stay on lead is this a problem

If your dog needs to be on lead that's not a problem as most if not all dogs will get distracted by something even the most well behaved dog. So it’s usually best to keep them on lead which will be edited out afterwards. I have lots of tricks up my sleeve to get a dogs attention during a shoot. All I ask is if possible please can your dog not wear a harness for the images just a collar as sometimes harness' are difficult to remove in post production.

Pricing

The session price includes pre shoot consultation, the shoot itself which is 1-3 hours usually depending on which session you have chosen, location agreement, editing time, gallery reveal in the comfort of your own home (in most cases).

Products/Digitals

You are not obliged to purchase any products after the shoot, you will product credit to use towards any products/digitals or you will have purchased a package with digitals included with the option to purchase more. Most of my clients tend to invest between £700 - £1500 on average on their products. But all depends on individual needs. If you are on a budget I can offer interest free monthly payments if needed.

A photoshoot isnt just about what happens on the day a lot of work goes into the post production of your items and i put my heart into everything I do from the photoshoot to the editing. As i want you to have an amazing experience from start to finish and want you to have memories to last forever as it may be the only photoshoot you decide to have with your dog. I want to create beautiful images of your dogs and family which I hope you will treasure forever. Photography is not cheap, I spend a lot of time practising my skills behind the camera and also editing, spend lots of time location scouting, and finding beautiful handmade exquisite products that reflect my work. not to mention the cost which is crazy of cameras, lenses etc. This is why I offer interest free payments spread over a few months if it is needed.

Paws and Positivity - The Hopeful Hounds Project

Paws and Positivity is a project dedicated to all the dogs who, through no fault of their own, have been through a lot in their lives. It will shine a light on rescue dogs, who have been lucky enough to have found their forever homes, they will get to tell their story of life before adoption and how they have adapted to life with their new families through words and images from our shoots.

The Hopeful Hounds Project will also be visiting Rescue Centres and will be shining the spotlight on the individual centres longest residents, treating them to a full on location shoot, getting their story out there online, and hopefully finding them their forever homes. I will also be involving as many residents from rescues as I can in my project by taking portraits of them.

I will be working on this project over the next 12 months initially but could be longer depending on how successful it is.

My aim for Paws and Positivity - The Hopeful Hounds Project is to put all the wonderful stories I collect from everyone involved in the project and images from the shoots we take into a book and get it published, as I think rescue is a story that needs to be told as there's too much stigma in regards to rescue dogs and certain breeds. I want to donate a portion of any profits made from the sales of the book to each of the rescues that I work with for the project.

If you are successful and want to go ahead with the free photoshoot, because this isn't a giveaway, its a project I am passionate about I ask for a £35 non refundable retainer fee, this secures your shoot, why I ask for a retainer fee, it confirms commitment to the project, helps prevent no shows and allows the project to run as smoothly as possible.

At the end of the project I will be donating a portion of book sales profits and the retainer fees split between the rescues who I will have worked alongside during the project.
